Pregnancy should be a time of joy and anticipation, but perhaps you are facing many difficult decisions you had not anticipated. Maybe the people you had counted on to understand and help have closed the door to you, and you don't know where to turn.
We may be able to help! The last thing you should have to worry about right now is where you will live. There are many other decisions that need your attention and energy. Our Shepherding Home program is designed for just such a time.
Shepherding Homes are provided by ordinary people serving in an extraordinary way. These families offer young women a safe and supportive environment in which to consider future options for her baby and herself. They are waiting to open their doors to you!
The women who reside in our Shepherding Homes are over 18 years of age, unmarried, usually experiencing a first pregnancy, and willing to comply with Pregnancy Support Center guidelines. Our "typical" Shepherding client desires an opportunity to refocus her life and to design a parenting plan for her baby. By having some of her needs met in a Shepherding Home, she is more able to work on preparations for her and her baby's future.
During a stay in a Shepherding Home, you will be assigned an Advocate (mentor) from our Center who will meet with you throughout your pregnancy and shortly thereafter. She will be available to help with goal-setting, decision making and community referrals and will offer lots of support and encouragement!
Shepherding Homes are not intended to provide emergency housing. Potential candidates must be referred for application after first meeting with a peer counselor. Placement is not guaranteed and the application process may take 4-6 weeks. Call 330-455-7500 or email receptionist@pscstark.com for an appointment.
